It's a Surprise!

Hi Everyone! Thank you! For what, you may ask? Well, you may have noticed (especially if you've visited us in New York!), we really have very little space in our tiny New York apartment. And while we are grateful for any gifts you wish to share with us, space really is at a premium. So helping me put together an amazing, unforgettable honeymoon for both of us is really a tremendous gift - thank you!
As you may have heard, the honeymoon is secret! Not just secret, but TOP SECRET! Carina has no idea where she is going. This obviously complicates matters for me and for you in putting together the honeymoon registry. A few hints: 1) We will be going to two different places. 2) The first place is a major city. 3) The second place is... very exciting. Well, since I know where it is, I'm very excited - and I think Carina should be as well!
But, as one friend has pointed out, if all this is a surprise, how does one know what we are getting for you? I've tried to put down enough details so that most of the gifts are fairly straightforward. And Carina and I promise that we'll take plenty of pictures, and send postcards from the places we visit to whomever of you helped make happen that special portion of the trip!

We are very excited about the upcoming wedding day, and do hope that you will be able to join us in France as we join our lives together, and start a celebration that's been years in the making!!!

I can see it right now, arriving at the airport (the first, or the second? Perhaps the way home?) and Carina has already devoured the first two books that she brought with her. We will have to stop at a bookstore and find something for her to read during the journey!

If we're visiting a great city, I'm sure that they will have a cool museum I'll want to check out. I can't wait to see all the amazing things there - thank you! And if Carina gets bored, the trip to the bookstore mentioned elsewhere in the registry might come in handy!

Underwater adventure activities

As the wedding - and the honeymoon! - quickly approaches, I feel that dropping one tiny hint (especially for those of you still checking the registry!) might be fun. Yes, there is water involved. Yes, "underwater adventure activities" are on the schedule! I'm packing my dive-card, and would be ever-so-grateful if you helped me use it! Carina's gone diving once, and had really good time once she got used to it, so I'm hopeful that she'll try this again!

A day (trip) to ourselves

Sometimes, you just need to get away. And for people who live in one of the busiest, most crowded cities on earth, we need to get away! We'll take advantage of your wonderful gift to take a special day-trip to a quiet and secluded luxury destination. It's a bit of a journey, but it will definitely be worth it to have the time to ourselves!

Scooter rental for a day

I can't say if it will be Italy, or Ibiza, or India, but I'm fairly confident that wherever we go, Carina will want to try out some alternative transportation to get around and check out the locale. I think Carina would look great on this little red number here, no?!

When we've had enough of flying, at least for a little bit, it will be great to jump on a boat and take a short cruise. I'm not saying if we will be crossing the Straits of Messina or the Bosporous (or neither for that matter), but I'm fairly certain that we will be waterborne at one point - thanks to you!

What could be better than knowing we'll have breakfast to enjoy between the sheets? We'll order croissants, fresh fruits, yogurts, freshly squeezed orange juice and hot coffee which all seem to taste better served to us in bed!

We would love just one more night to celebrate and indulge in romance! At our favorite restaurant we'll enjoy spectacular cuisine and sip on classical cocktails and concoctions while toasting to us and our last night on our escape in paradise!

What better way to start the evening than by trying out a nice local vintage with some tapas? Carina is always partial to her Provencal wines, but perhaps we'll discover a new favorite? Sante - To your health!

I think it's safe to say that Carina's palate is a bit more adventurous than mine - but it's a great way in which she challenges me! We'll head into town and find an authentic-looking place to have dinner and try the local flavors! Thank you!

Well, not our current favorite cafe - at least as far as we know - but it has the potential to be our favorite! As you all know, I love coffee, and Carina loves sweets! So we'll have to take some mid-afternoon breaks for coffee (ice-coffee?) and sweets - and hopefully discover our favorite cafe - a place we'll always dream of returning to - along the way. Don't worry - we'll send a postcard, so you can try it too!

Baileys-Chocolate Cake, but better!

When we were traveling in China in the summer of 2002, we joked that we would have a relaxing evening one night, and sit at the hotel bar after dinner and order drinks and dessert. Somehow, we got this idea in our heads that Baileys on the rocks, and chocolate cake would be just the thing. So when we made it to Hainan Island, we finally had our Baileys-Chocolate Cake night! We'll laugh about that old memory, and enjoy some new ones as we head down to the hotel bar for drinks and dessert after a happy honeymoon day.

Some of life is learning from your mistakes. We were traveling in the Camargue - the region around the Rhone delta in France, in 2001. We spent the night at a charming country house that had been converted into a hotel. They didn't have dinner there, but we could have ordered a cheese and sausage plate, with wine. I think we thought we'd head out for dinner, but after a long day of traveling, we were just too tired, and went to bed - hungry! So this time, on the night when we've had a long day, and dinner doesn't seem like the right answer, we'll order the cheese and sausage plate, with the bottle of wine, thanks to you!
