A Day in Rome

Between the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, piazza after piazza, bus rides, and three meals, we are going to have one crazy first day in Rome! There is so much to see, and so little time!

A Night Out On The Town

After a romantic honeymoon dinner, we'll experience Rome by night! We will stroll to the unforgettable Trevi Fountain, then on to the Roman Pantheon built in 27 BC to sample the most praised ice cream in Italy. Next, we will have a nightcap at the Piazza Navona, considered the most beautiful square in Rome with its 3 Bernini fountains. We can't wait!

This is one of the world's greatest museums, and its single best repository of Renaissance art. From Leonardo da Vinci's "annunciation," to Michelangelo's "Holy Family," to Sandro Botticelli's "Birth of Venus," the museum holds 44 rooms of magnificent art. This tour, along with a stop at the Uffizi cafe, may take an entire Florence day!

For half of our trip, we plan on renting a car and driving through, and exploring, Tuscany on our own schedule. We chose this over a tour so that we can go at our own leisure, maybe just grabbing a blanket, some bread, cheese, and wine, and having a picnic in the Sunflower fields outside of our Tuscan hotel.

We know Italy is well-travelled, and is extremely well-equipped with trains that make stops all through Tuscany between Rome and Florence. We intend on using the trains as our main source of transportation while we visit this beautiful country

It's casual, fun and perfect for an afternoon lunch. With so many restaurants in town, we'll choose the most perfect, casual restaurant that speaks to traditional Italian hospitality and taste. (We are guessing that the picture for this request is an entirely ITALIAN burger).

A block northwest of Piazza Santa Croce, this cafe/gelateria supposedly serves the world's best gelato... with exquisite flovors such as fig, melon, honey, even rice, how could the two of us pass this up? With over 100 flavors, it would be an understatement to say we may go more than once!

Great Way to Start the Day

We purposely chose NOT to opt for a complimentary breakfast in the hotels in Rome and Florence, so that we can walk along and enjoy a little side cafe and true Italian coffee in the mornings. Why settle for the "American" buffet breakfast at the hotel when we can wander into a true Italian cafe?
